GULLIVER INTERNATIONAL ANIMATION FESTIVAL

Gulliver Puppet Theatre, in collaboration with Galaţi City Council, will organize, between the 18th to 23rd of May 2020, the 28th edition of Gulliver International Animation Festival, a major theatrical event dedicated to people of all ages.

I. The festival’s objectives:

- To reunite the most prestigious performances produced by Romanian and foreign theaters, which marked, through their artistic expressiveness, the world of animation for children.

- To support and promote the artists of the animation theatre among the general public and professionals.

- To encourage and stimulate experiments and creativity in the field of animation theatre. 

- To facilitate interaction between theatre professionals worlwide.

- To create a competitive atmosphere that motivates and rewards the art of animation in Romania and abroad.

- To identify new artists and new theatrical resources related to the animation field.

II. Who can apply

During the past years, the festival has turned into an event for the whole family, featuring shows and events dedicated to both children, young people and adults.

Public theatres, theatrical companies, as well as independent artists can submit their application. 

The festival is looking for the following style shows: puppets and marionettes, animation, 3D performances, shadow theatre, magic, circus, clown, mime, dance - theatre, theatre of object, musical theatre, ventriloquist shows, outdoor shows, storytelling etc.

The international shows must be non-verbal or as less verbal as possible!

III. STRUCTURE:

The program of the festival is based on :

The contest section - includes shows for children and young people, that compete for the awards offered by the jury of the festival.

OFF Section - hosts theater performances for adults or the entire family that do not compete for the festival’s awards. 

Outdoor Section – includes theater performances for children, workshops, interactive animation activities etc.

Related events – this section includes exhibitions, book launches, conferences etc.

IV. APPLICATION PROCESS:

In order to apply to Gulliver International Animation Festival 2020, applicants must submit the following materials:

- Application form – HERE

- 4 photos of the show (jpg.)

- DVD / full video link of the show (by post or online transfer)

- Technical rider

V. JURY AND AWARDS

The festival has a competitive character, the performances in the Competition section being judged by representative personalities of the theatrical life in the country and / or abroad, which usually award the following prizes:

• Excellence award

• Special Jury Prize

• Gulliver Bebe Award - Award for 1-3 years old performances

• Music Award from the show

• Award for scenography

• Hand award

• The prize for directing

• The Grand Prix
